Goats Say No To Alas And Thompson
By: ivan j |After a relatively quiet first international transfer window, Chivas usa managed to make moves for players, thus far, a disappointment.
Thompson appears to have injured his knee again in the middle of practice with the team. CDCUSA gave him a no at this point. They will review his situation in January of next year.
Alas [...]
Practice Ends in Aggression Towards Journalist
By: Ivan |Apparently, a journalist from La Opinion was shoved and insulted by the CDCUSA pitch caretaker/manager (sorry, I’m not sure of the correct term) for taking pictures of Freddy Thompson’s closed practice in an adjacent field. According to CDCUSA rules, this is prohibited unless specifically allowed by the club.
Cubans to CDCUSA?
By: Ivan |WOW. I’m shocked. Really, I didn’t want to be optimistic or naive in thinking that the recent defectors of the Cuban National team, More and Alonso, would train with CDCUSA just because Galindo found success. I thought they would be hounded and snatched up first by other MLS clubs by now….LA soccer news delivers

By: Ivan |Mundo Deportivo today reported that Dennis Jonathan Alas, a Salvadorian midfielder, is on his way to L.A. to train with Chivas USA. Alas scored the winning goal against T’n’T in their recent GoldCup match, must have caught the eye of Preki. Here, take a look for your self. By the way, Alas, in [...]
Together we win, together we fall apart
By: Ivan |There isn’t much I can say after watching tonight’s game versus the Houston Dynamo. We didn’t penetrate deep enough to create, we relied too much on the long ball to Galindo, passing was off tonight, and our defenders were caught sleeping. Long story short, we got lazy/over confident/ too reliant on Galindo. Some things that [...]
Guatemalan captain to Chivas USA?
By: Ivan |As reported by La Red Deportiva, PrensaLibre and La Opinion, Freddy Thompson, Guatemalan national team captain and long time Comunicaciones player is reportedly on his way to L.A. to train with coach Preki. If you’re wondering why we didn’t see him in the 2007 Gold Cup, it’s because he was recovering from a knee injury. [...]
The Zidane chase
By: Ivan |Yes, I know you’re all exhausted with the Zidane to MLS rumors, but this one is for all the marbles, we hope..
As reported by Mediotiempo on June 15th, the Chivas Guadalajara GM and vice president are off to Spain to accomplish number of things, one of the more relevant goals is to sign Zidane [...]
It can be blog tiem pls?
By: Ivan |‘It can be blog tiem pls?’ is what I asked David after I noticed his missed absence from the Chivas USA blog..As many of you might have noticed, David has been on hiatus due to real world responsibilities. I certainly wish him the best of luck.
Now, regarding the Chivas USA blog, David suggested I temporarily [...]
My New Blog on the Offside and other Chivas News
By: David |Just a little bit of self promoting. I am now also the author of the Newcastle blog on the Offside and it is an honor to help this great website increase.
There was some interesting discussion on Bigsoccer today, looking into the lack of coverage for the Chivas v. Sounders match on Saturday. It is great [...]
