Chivas USA climb the table

By: Alex | Comments 1 Comment

What’s the deal? Is this the same team that just lost to RSL at home? Is Chicago not as good as they say, or is RSL getting better? Is Chivas USA finding their form?

This season has been a rollercoaster for the Red and White. Most of their problems stem from injuries which equates to inconsistent line ups. Is the team finally settling down?

Either way, this is a great win at home. Play was promising, and players are starting to get settled. Ante Razov landed a couple of assists, and Wicky started his first game. Mendoza seems to be playing great as left back and Sacha is up to his usual standard. The great news however, is the coming of a couple of youngsters. Both Bobby Burling and Justin Braun are starting to make a case for themselves.

The progression of these two players is so important to the future of Chivas USA. Claudio Suarez is playing his last year and needs replacement. Bobby adds the needed depth and may secure a starting spot next season. Braun is important, as both Galindo and Eskandarian are out. No word on either of these two returning. Which means the goal scoring will be left to Razov, Harris and Braun.

Good stuff. Now we need to avenge New York next week.

Ohh, and we are finally in a playoff spot.

Galindo out for eight weeks

By: Alex | Comments Add Comments

Galindo out for eight weeks.

Check it out here.

Not exactly out for the season, but not exactly available either.

He may be available for eight regular season games and playoffs, if the team makes it. Also, there are several games in Champs League that he could play in.

RSL defeat Chivas USA

By: Alex | Comments 4 Comments

Chivas USA take no points against RSL.

Tough loss, reminds me a lot of our loss against Kansas City in the play offs last year. RSL went up by one and then 11 players sat behind the ball. Frustration.

Like always, trying to stay on the positive. Players are inching their way back to health, and both Wicky and Bornstein saw minutes.

What do you think about the line ups? Bornstein and Mendoza switched positions?

Real Salt Lake - Chivas USA

By: Alex | Comments 5 Comments

A bunch of Characters I tell you.

Preki for President!!

My money is on Holland or Portugal.

Now, to more important matters.

No Maykel, he went in for surgery again. Big loss.

Some usuals may be coming back, including Claudio Suarez, Shavar Thomas, Raphael Wicky, Jonathan Bornstein, and Lawson Vaughn. I’m not even going to attempt to guess the line up.

In other Chivas USA news, the team will face Tauro FC of Panama in the first ever CONCACAF Champions League. A home and away match will be played to determine who makes it to the final 16.

Marsch makes the top 10 for MLS games played. Still playing his best.

NY sneak one past Brad

By: Alex | Comments 7 Comments

The funny old game strikes again.

Chivas USA dominated the match for the most part and still lost.

I’m OK with that. The key for me is in the chemistry the team is developing. The team worked hard for 90 minutes. The passing is really improving. Great display of skill.

NY exploited one of the few defensive errors. Overall, the back was tight. Curtin is taking hold of the back line. Pancho Mendoza … wow. For a dude his size controlling the New York offense… good stuff. His attacking runs are getting better and his passes are cleaner.

Hamilton needs a little more time to gel with the first team. Other than that, a superior performance displayed by the Red and White.

Chivas USA alive…. and so am I

By: Alex | Comments 5 Comments

I didn’t go far, but lack of internet and a computer has set me back. I’ll catch up, so keep an eye out.

I must admit, a few weeks ago I was ready to out up the white flag. I couldn’t see how any team could overcome the injuries that Chivas USA is seeing. Today, I am a different man. Awe struck by the the way the team has come together. The leadership Jesse Marsch is showing, the accuracy of Flores and the hard work of Justin Braun.

So here’s to a new start.

Chivas USA head to Colorado

Chivas USA head off to Colorado to take on the Rapids.

Tough one to predict. On a normal day, I would caulk this up as a victory, but this hasn’t been an ordinary season.  Chivas USA are still seriously depleted. Some players have elevated their status to questionable, including Carey Talley, Shavar Thomas, Claudio Suarez and Maykel Galindo. Hopefully this mixture of hungry youth and veteran talent can get three points.

Games in Colorado are exceptionally tough, primarily due to the weather and altitude. This one should be no different. Add on the talent of Christian Gomez and this makes one tough match.

Here’s a clip of the team practicing in the community earlier this week. Sacha has skills.
