GUEVARA TRADED TO TFC!!!
By: David | May 2nd, 2007You read it right, it would seem that Guevara has been traded by Chivas and will be playing for TFC soon. We are still trying to find out if this is a rumor or not, however, numerous places are picking this up. According to Luis Bueno and Andrea Canales at LAsoccernews:
The Amado Guevara experiment is over.
Chivas USA severed ties with Guevara four games into the 2007 season as the club traded him to Toronto FC for Paulo Nagamura and a draft pick.
The trade is pending final league approval.
Well I guess the management finally realized it was time to unload the crap that was Guevara. I really hope this is true as, Guevara has been a negative for the team. More to come as information comes out.

Wow, isn’t he a DP player? Does that mean he eats up one of Toronto’s spots too?

I do not think he is listed as a DP player as his salary is below 400k….I think it was around 150-200k, which is still a lot, considering his horrible play.

You’re right of course. I was confused since Chivas traded RBNY their designated player spot to get him. Interesting to see a former league MVP traded twice. He must not be the best of teammates.

Guevara has a huge ego and that seems to get in the way with his playing. I feel bad for TFC, as Guevara will pose a really big problem for them. Only one manager thus far has been able to control him and that was Bradley.
As for the DP slot…Chivas is still without one. The problem that exists is there is not much left on the roster to trade for one. Unless they are willing to part with one of the rookies. At least Cue was able to realize the negative impact Guevara was having and cut him loose. Even though this will go down in MLS history as one of the worst trades.
Saturday will be interesting, Nags supposedly will be ready to play DC.

Glory Glory Hallelujah!
nagamura is a godsend. ive always thought he was one of the league’s best when he was with the galaxy. great vision. who cares about the DP being wasted (we’re w/o it for 5 years, right?). big ups to CUE.

I have to say, I’m glad for Chivas to be rid of Guevara, but I really don’t like this trade for Toronto. I like Nagamura a lot, and I think he was more valuable to TFC than Guevara will be. The last thing TFC needs is a step backwards.

Don’t get too excited about Nagamura… He wasn’t impressive at all in the four games he played for us… And I’m not sure Guevara will be what he was with New York, but I’m ready to take that chance.

Sam, That is what I have been hearing. Not much good stuff coming out of TFC on Nags…but we shall see, maybe the change of venue will help him.
And yes it is Guevara’s birthday today…..
