And That is Why Chivas Will be the MLS Champs (4-0 Chivas Over rsl)

By: David | April 21st, 2007

OK, so I was wrong in my prediction, I said we were going to win 3-0. But this makes up for my bad prediction. After a stellar start, and a so-so second half, Chivas crushed rsl and rose to the top of the Western Division. Only three games into the season and it would seem the offense is starting to gel, with Maykel Galindo scoring two quick goals in the first 9 minutes.

Have I not been telling you guys about Galindo; he showed tonight why he is the fastest player in the MLS. Couple that with the strong defensive showing and you have yourself one of the best teams in the MLS. Last weekend was just a fluke, a hold over from last season’s playoff letdown. If the team continues to perform like tonight, there are not many MLS teams that will be able to beat them. Maybe this year we will sweep the pathetic gals, a ragtag group of misfits who think they know how to play soccer but do not know left from right. We are playing the gals next weekend and if we play like we did tonight there is no chance in hell the gals will win.

There were two disappointments tonight. The attendance and the refs. What the hell happened, we went from 14k to 11k? Our group decided that it looked more like 9k than the generous 11k that was announced. Where are the fans, where is the FO going out and marketing the team? This is a pathetic showing, as the team has improved over last season, and yet we still cannot fill the stands. Either there is something really wrong with the Home Depot Center, or Chivas FO really needs to rethink their marketing strategy. This is unacceptable!!! 11k is not something to be proud about and just reflects the horrible marketing by the FO. Something needs to change and fast.

The other disappointment was the refs. A bunch of biased pigs who really did not want to see Chivas win. So much for the MLS initiatives to hire full time refs and teach them, it would seem that they have regressed since last season.

But enough complaining, this was a beautiful win and proves once again why Chivas is the team to beat this season and why Maykel Galindo is the fastest man in the MLS. Oh yea, congrats to Ante Razov for scoring his 100th career goal!!! And do not forget to check out Chivas’ new sponsor.

Chivas USA is looking pretty good this season and their not a bore to watch i like their style of play. And yes those refs were horrible i was like wtf the whole time. The seats do look pretty sparce but todays performance made me want to be there yelling to those refs and cheering the team. Ill consider telling my parents to get us a season pass to see their games.

Great game! I suspect the next two away matches will be hell! I’m very excited to see what they come up with
next! That Mendoza/Razov goal was beautifully executed!! Ahhh, the beautiful game!

p.s. David, do you know if HDC sets ticket prices for Chivas usa games? I suspect attendance is low because of the high ticket prices, coupled with the small fan base (i.e. half of Guadalajara’s fan base in L.A.)

    WHAT!

keep in mind we have wins over the league’s worst. but the
fluidity/effort is admirable. and its nice to see we’re beating teams we’re SUPPOSED to beat. we had so many clear shots on goal, it could’ve easily been 8-0.

guevara has horrible aim and was almost non-existant the whole game.

im happy with cunliffe’s play. great vision.

panchito is quietly showing he’s the team MVP so far.

the refs were blind. bad calls on both sides.

cunningham is obviously trying to make as many goals as possible. HE NEVER PASSES the ball around the box.

glyconerd makes a good point about the ticket prices. THEY SKYROCKETED! im almost sure thats a key reason why people arent showing up. cheapest tickets are 35 bucks?…not exactly a smart thing to increase prices when the demand wasnt that great to begin with.

Wow. Yeah they haven’t beaten Chicago or Nie, yet, but still. DAMN! They look like they’re playing in a different league so far this season.

OK, so maybe my title was a bit of a hyperbole, but there still is hope for a championship this year. The West is not the strongest of divisions and the east has its weakness.

Sorry, have to cut this comment short…I will add more when I get back…..

Jasmine, the atmosphere and intensity of the team is something that cannot be found in other MLS teams. It’s a lot of fun being there and in fact we now have a block of 8 tickets as our group is slowly growing. Maybe next season we can double our group. But every little bit counts.
