Awards, Accolades, Support and Dominace- Chivas Stands at the Top of the Pack with Kljestan Taking the Lead
By: David | April 9th, 2007The awards and support just seem to keep pouring in, as Sacha Kljestan looks to be a shoe in for goal of the week. Leading the rest of the nominees at 56%, Kljestan is proving why he was taken in the first round of last year’s draft. Scoring from long range (something we are not accustomed to, as Bradley never really allowed that to happen last year) Kljestan made a mark for his first career goal and ended the possibility of a TFC comeback.
Thus highlight video is in order:
It would seem that Kljestan is flourishing under the guidance of Preki as he finally scored a goal, only after taking two shots. Compared to last season’s 22 shot attempts with no goals, Preki’s coaching must be paying off as he is implements an explosive attacking offence. L.B. over at the Sideline Views Blog interviewed Kljestan after the game.
And for those people who play the MLS fantasy game, it would seem that not only have the accolades been pouring in, but Kljestan has topped the Fantasy points list this week, as noted by the MLS Fan Girl and the guys at Blue Blooded Journo.
Thus far it would seem that Preki’s offensive scheme is working and as the season progresses the talent that Chivas has will help propel them to the top of the MLS. However, it all depends upon the ability of the team to work together and follow Preki’s orders.
With that said do not forget to vote for Sacha Kljestan on the Goal of the Week.

As much as I hated having to, I voted for him. Unstoppable strike.

It surprised even me as I was not used to seeing a strike like that before from Chivas…..Last year, Bradley would create an offence that did not rely on long power shots, as such, that score was a breath of fresh air.

i see big things from our midfield - one of the best in the MLS.
keep in mind it was a pretty tame opening weekend in terms of goals, but that doesnt take away anything from kljestan’s rocket.Posted from

Don’t forget Sacha and Guzano’s super prestigious Cupcakes! I totally agree, Brad was robbed on Player of the Week, he made some HUGE saves in the first half. Cunningham played pretty well, but his goals weren’t all that special.

Eric, I agree our midfield will be very good this season and will help the weakness of the defense (although our defense did look better then expected). What I would like to see is Guevara pick up his game and start playing; he was quite disappointing on Saturday and really brings into question as to why the FO traded a DP for him. As for the goal, I am just glad that we finally took a long shot…more than that we took 17 shots, which compared to last year is a great improvement.
Longshoe, the Cupcakes will be held up proudly and trumps the mistake by the MLS. Its ok, as Guzano continues his play this year we will win over the league.
All we have to do is come to play next week, and beat those pesky guys in orange.
