Changes in the Front Office
By: Alex | September 10th, 2007Many of you have heard that Chivas USA have made a change with their General Manager. Javier Leon, manager and CEO of Chivas USA stepped down on Thursday.
Why the change? I think Chivas is in the middle of a change right now, one that started a year and a half ago. After the first season when the goats realized a “B” team from Mexico would not succeed here in the states, they had to start thinking out side the box. Chivas since then has created a winning team with a squad that represents more nationalities than any other MLS club.
Now that the goats are winning, what’s happening? Attendance and interest drops. The Mexican stars leave. The team is split now, forcing itself to rethink it’s marketing strategy.
Antonio Cue stated the team will make an official announcement on Tuesday regarding who will be replacing Leon. (No it’s not Klinnsman).
We’ve kept our ear to the ground. We think it will be Shawn Hunter. This guy is known not only in soccer, but other sports as well. He comes to us from AEG and has a ton of experience.
I expect to see the team now focus more on the quality football on the pitch and less on the nationality of the team.

You’ve kept your ear to the ground…you mean, you kept your eyes on the LA TIMES, right?
Come on, dude. Give credit where credit is due.

Anny – thanks for your comments. However, the information stated is found in a couple of places. While the team has yet to officially announce the GM, several boards, blogs and articles contain the information. While I appreciate you pointing out the LA times as providing the information, the point of this blog is to provide information.
