Chivas USA has a Tourney Coming Up, So take that Ugly Green Guys
By: David | May 27th, 2007That is right, a soccer team in LA has a tournament coming up and it is not the funny looking green guys that have the pyramid scheme sponsors. It is Chivas USA! On June 2nd, Chivas USA will be participating in a tournament with the Seattle Sounders of the USL as a result of the trade for Maykel Galindo. The Cuban striker continues to be a great asset for Chivas USA.
The Seattle Sounders today announced an exhibition game with Los Angeles based Chivas USA of Major League Soccer (MLS) on June 2, 7:00 PM at Qwest Field. The game was part of Chivas USA deal to acquire forward Maykel Galindo, who, after spending two seasons with the Sounders, moved on to the MLS club in early February.

Not only will this great tourny take place, but there is now a big-name corporation sponsoring the match up. According to pr.com, “U.S. Home Mortgage, LLC today announced it will sponsor the Seattle Sounders vs. Chivas USA tournament on June 2. This is the first high profile game of the season for the Seattle Sounders as they are preparing to play a team ranked in the MLS.”
As Chivas USA continues to expand its presence in the United States, tournaments like the one with the Sounders will prove to be a great opportunity. More events like this should be implemented so as to help Chivas in their marketing.
