Chivas USA lose at Home

Chivas USA lost 2-1 against the Rapids Sunday afternoon as their dreams of the Supporters Shield go down the drain.drain.jpg

After losing Ante Razov against FC Dallas, the Chivas USA are forced to hobble on with the last few games of the season. This loss was more important than it seems.

First, we learned how crucial the pairing of Ante and Maykel are. Additionally, we suffered a loss with a man advantage. Some other important things to take a way from the match. The team lost their chance at the supporters shield and gave up their at home record. They also failed to clinch the Western Division title.

Some positive notes. Jonny B was exciting. Bornstein created opportunity after opportunity on the left side as he stood in for Pachito Mendoza. He offers a different type of play than Mendoza. Perez created attacking chances as well as he filled Bornstein’s shoes. Besides scoring the only goal for the Red and White, he proved he can support the attack, rather than just defend. Great work for Suarez and Thomas in the back.

A little disappointed in the team’s performance overall, particularly in the finishing department. I have to give credit to Bouna Coundoul. He kept the Rapid’s playoff hope alive. Save after save, combined with Chivas’ poor finishing equated to 3 points for the visiting side.

El Guzano should be in Switzerland by now. Congrats to him but I’d be surprised if he plays in the Houston game. Your picture is very appropriate.

What happened to Mendoza? Did he pick up an injury in practice?

The Chivas website stated he picked up a mild abdominal strain.

What a heart breaker Sunday afternoon was. Chivas clearly played better, but just didn’t finish their chances. It was a little frustrating to see them hit the near post netting 3 times in the span of 15 minutes.

Johnny B looked a little unsure the first half, but he created a lot of opportunities in the second half. You can really feel the difference with missing starters and people playing out of position.

Why did Preki pull Jessie Marsh? He’s the Midfield General. I don’t know if Colorado scores the game winner with Jessie covering the Midfield. I can’t be angry with Preki pushing Claudio and everyone else forward & going for the win at home. What hurts though, is I didn’t think Chicago was going to draw with DC, and the bastards did it! If we could have won that game, we could have pulled off the impossible and took away the supporters shield from DC. Oh the pain and agony!!!!!

Paolo Nagamura should never be allowed to take corner kicks. They barely made near post feet, let alone anything even remotely resembling proper service into the box.

I don’t envy the guys having to break down the video tape of this game.

Stay strong CHIVAS!!!! Stay strong. What doesn’t kill us can only make us stronger.
