Chivas USA Training Camp

By: Alex | February 5th, 2008

One day of training camp is in the books. Some news bits that came out of it (N.G.& L.B.).
cardozo_jose.jpg
Cardozo did not show up for the first day of training camp. He does want to play for the team, and is expected to show up today. Better late then never.

The Cubans are missing. Both Alonso and Moore are not in Camp. The duo are no longer part of the team.

The Japanese Blonde Bomber has reported for training camp. The 31 year old Takayuki Suzuki is a 2002 World Cup veteran and has played in Japan, Belgium, Serbia and Brazil.

Local cult idol Mike Munoz is training with the team. Antonio Cue made a deal with Patty Rodriguez (Mike’s girlfriend). She dressed up as a Chiva girl and scored her boyfriend a tryout. Mike played with the Red and White their inaugural year, and was waived. He most recently played with the California Victory in USL 1.

Villa is still after Guzan. O’Neil suggested that if Brad continues his current form, an offer may be made in the summer.

Preki is not planning on making any major changes to the current roster. He plans to add one senior and seven developmental roster players.

Wicky was officially introduced today.

More news when I find it.

Does anyone think that the Blond Bomber tryout is just to make a link between the Japan U-23 and Chivas USA? The BB’s tryout gives him some opinions on the team, coaches, and the USA – And before, during, after next saturday’s friendly, the BB can answer questions from the U-23 players.

I say Chivas USA should sign the BB for a year and then as a scout. Or just sign him as a scout straight away. Then we could have “the skinny” on Far East talent. There are already some players in Prem and in Scotland. Why not in MLS.

I know the team brand in CHIVAS, but it doesn’t mean that we can only draw from Mexico. Look at the success we have had with Nagamura or Zotinca. Let us be the “International Milan” to AC Milan. Instead of Chivas USA, let us be… InterChivas!! (change the colors to black and red… the rojinegro)

Whatever it takes to bring home the silverware!!!!!
    GO Chivas !!
