Game Day- Beat Those Ugly Green Guys
By: David | May 20th, 2007Now that I have finished school and most likely lost all of my readers in the process, today is game day. And what better way to start, then against our hated green enemy.
During halftime today, the new jersey will be unveiled to show the Comex logo, which if you have been reading this blog, already knew about.
So this is more of a preview post, as a I prepare for the coming game. Full-time posting to be back tomorrow (or maybe after the game today, depending upon the success of the team).
Until then.

Went to the game and then watched it on video.
I must say Im shocked at the lack of defensive organization on that tying goal by Donavan.
The best player in the MLS and the most dangerous striker and he is left unmarked directly in front of goal on the 16 yard marker as the Galaxy left mid floats a lazy cross into the center of the box. I dont blame Suarez that much for the weak clearance…at least he was marking an attacker. There were five other Chivas defenders in or around the box and they left two Galaxy attackers unmarked and wide open on that play. I think it was Marsch who was closest to Donavan and he just turned and postioned himself marking empty space about 6 yards to Donavans right. On top of that, I think it was Jaqua of the Galaxy who was totally unmarked at the far post. What kinda defense is that for professionals? I always liked Preki as a player but its his responsibility as head coach to see that that kinda stuff does not happen.

i agree rhythmwize…i was at the game & it seemed like donovan had an eternity to set up his shot & fire away…i feel like there was an overall lack of pressure in this game…there were a number of times where i couldn’t believe how much time the galaxy had with the ball to plot their attack without a chivas jersey in sight…i’m glad we got a draw because it seemed like it could’ve been worse.

Yes, Oilydal, no pressure on the ball by Chivas on a number of occasions. And I thought that was what Preki was trying to emphasize, high work rates. And it really wasnt that hot out there, wait till mid-summer. Maybe Chivas is not in shape.
