Goal Keeper Anyone?

By: Alex | January 22nd, 2008

Chivas USA still have a few more moves left before training camp starts.

The team has acquired defender Jim Curtain from Chicago Fire for some conditional draft picks. Jim will be a back up for Suarez and Thomas. Jim was Rookie of the year contender in 2001 and was a regular starter until he was injured in 2006.

Additionally, Brad Guzan is on trial with Celtic. This leaves the Red and White with 6 strikers on the roster (seven including Cardozo) and no goalies.

Ives is stating that another trade involving a striker with Chicago Fire is in the works. No, not Ante Razov. Hamilton or Cunliffe maybe?

I think dunord said Celtic is only offering $1 mil for Guzan. That is waaay too low.

I mil is a lot of cash, but not enough for Guzan. We better not trade Hamilton. Cunlife is Preki’s pick. I dunno.

DuNord said one million pounds, which is what the media in Scotland is reporting. One million pounds=almost 2 million dollars. Still too low, but at least it’s not one million dollars.

And wy not trade Hamilton? We already have Atiba? They are essentially the same player, except Atiba has more versatility.

Of that 2 million, how much does the team get? I think Hamilton has more upside than Cunlife (sorry March). Cunlife is going to have to move to midfield anyways.

I have heard the current return on outgoing transfers for players for MLS is 1/3 league 2/3 team with the first 250k of the teams share being converted into an allocation and the rest being straight cash. So approx 1.33 mil which will probably be 1mil for Vergara to use as he sees fit and 250k being allocation.

Preki kept Cunliffe for a reason when he dropped the entire reserve team. I’m guessing either Sueno or Hamilton.
