Good Start with a Healthy Breakfast
By: Alex | February 12th, 2008Chivas USA are off to a great preseason start.
One full week of preseason training… Check
A few internationals added to the roster… Check
A victory over your local college team… Check
Defeating a major MLS team… Check
The future looks bright at camp Chivas. With a full week of training under the belt, the team was put to the test.
Chivas USA played a closed door scrimmage against UCLA. Ante Razov scored a goal against the Bruins. So did Justin Braun, who was invited to train with the team. I think that puts the tally of strikers in Chivas USA camp to 32.
Apparently that wasn’t enough. Ante proceeded to score on the New York Red Bulls this morning. A ball from Sacha found Ante and he found the back of the net in the fourth minute. Suarez didn’t lose a step in the off-season either. Check the picture provide by SBI of Suarez shutting down Serna. If you look closely, the ghost in the background is you new central defender, Curtain. The game ended in a 1-0 victory for the Red and White.

Sounds like the gang is up to their old tricks.

Chivas are in a really good position even without the DP option. And yay Ante’s back. Now someone tell him to take a break every once and a while and he’ll actually make it to the playoffs this year. ZING!
Whats the post-surgery status of Galindo and Bournstein?

No official word on either status. I understand that both players are doing well. Here is a clip of this weeks training. It is about Cardozo, but around 35 second, you can see some training footage. Galindo looks fine. I’m having trouble spotting Jonny B, but Wicky is there.

I’m going to try to head down to a training session next week.

Oh hey. Someone actually went to Quakes training camp and posted an internet report. Guess who’s there? Matt Taylor.

Good luck to Matt. He is really a good soccer player. He would go to town as a proven scorer in USL, but he would have a little trouble keeping up with the play in MLS.
All the best to him.

The were 3 good things I saw at the match:
1. A guy wearing #99 by the name of Marco did a great job in the mid. I think better than NAGS.
2. Jim Curtin is a veryice guy and played good with El Emperador.
3. Esky is very motivated and excited to be here. He said this was going to e a great year. he is HAPPY here!Jonny B, Golindo and the LAW were all there watching the match. I spoke to both the LAW and Jonny B and they both said they are having a great recovery and can’t wait to be back out there.
