*KNOCK KNOCK* it’s Chivas USA
By: Alex | August 1st, 2008Chivas USA take on Chicago Fire Saturday after a break. The team has been out of action for two weeks, and have not played an MLS game in a month due to Superliga.
So whats up?
Injuries are plenty, but that’s not news. Raphael Wicky and Alex Zotinca are out. However, a few of our usuals are coming back. Lawson Vaughn played as a sub against New England, and Justin Braun’s status has elevated to doubtful. Additionally, there’s a few guys you might have heard of before, Alecko Eskandarian and Maykel Galindo, are traveling with the team. Their status is doubtful as well, but the duo will slowly be working their way back into the line up.
Razov, is healthy, and looking to find some goals, and so is Nurse. So it seems that Chivas USA will have some depth in the striker position.
Other news from Chicago is that Blanco will not be available for the game due to yellow card accumulation. Diego Gutierrez is out as well. Chad Barret has been transferred to Toronto. Calen Carr is injured.
Here is what I would like to see on the field.
—Razov———–Harris——
Mendoza-Marsch-Nagamura-Talley
Bornstein-Burling-Suarez-Vaughn
————Kennedy————–
A late substitution of Galindo, Esky, or Nurse would be nice.
With that, let’s kick off the second half of the season.

If what you say is true Alex, then this will give Nurse an opportunity ti show himself! I have a good feeling that Nurse will help us out this season!!!

Alex Zotinca (R knee surgery); DOUBTFUL: FW Justin Braun (L knee contusion), MF Eric Ebert (L groin strain), FW Alecko Eskandarian (sports hernia surgery); FW Maykel Galindo (sports hernia surgery), **FW Ante Razov (L knee sprain);** PROBABLE: MF Atiba Harris (R ankle sprain), DF Carey Talley (R hip strain), DF Lawson Vaughn (L ankle tendonitis)http://chivas.usa.mlsnet.com/pdf/mls/2008/gameguides/08/802chichv.pdf

Gameface saw Ante at the HDC today so he did not travel. I think Kennedy will be able to keep his job even with Zack coming in. Zack as a second GK is good for our team. Kenendy should be our number one choice.
I want to see NUrse play the whole match. I have a good feeling about him for our team.

So far its halftime and things aren’t looking good at all. Talley’s interview said it all. Lots of long balls and no real soccer being played. Here is the kicker…
So far, no Nurse (Savage instead), Thornton (who looks more like a linebacker than a goalie) is not looking that good, and damned if Mendoza still won’t shoot the freakin ball. He has great runs but seems to fear finishing.
Anyhow, looking forward to the second half. We are really missing Sacha in my opinion, but like Alex said…”who needs strikers”.
Come on the Chivas!

Ack…a bummer loss. Wow..I have to say that I don’t understand the line up tonight. That said, everything and I mean everything changed when Galindo came in. He is electric. I was not expecting what I would see. His touch was great, he made things happen. I was really also happy to see Alecko in there too.
So I ask, why Savage? Why Harris? I don’t see Savage ever scoring. Atiba has had chances all year and rarely finishes. With such a need for wins which could put us at the top of the charts, we go a ragtag lineup. The whole first half was a waste, in retrospect.
Anyhow, my negativity shines…sorry. I want to see more Galindo and I can’t wait to see Razov and Sacha back.
