Mendoza Represents Mexico?

By: Alex | September 26th, 2007

Local hero Panchito Mendoza gets rumored of a well deserved call up to the national team. While it has not been officially announced, Sanchez looks to possibly bring him in for a friendly against Guatemala on October 17th.

This news is great for fans of Chivas USA and fans of MLS. Typically, FMF considers itself to be superior to MLS. As competitions such as Superliga, the CONCACAF Champions Cup and Copa Suramerica showcase the talent of MLS, I think players will continue to receive call ups all over the states. Additionally, the most significant part of this call up is the fact that Panchito is the first MLS based player to receive the call up, as the Mexican National Team usually sticks to the FMF for it’s selection of players.

While most CDCUSA fans are nervous about losing their left midfielder right before the playoffs, we expect the national stage will be a great opportunity for the player to grow in the way that Jonathan Bornstein and Brad Guzan did in the Copa.

Congratulations to Panchito…. Although I was hoping that the rumor regarding his becoming a naturalized US citizen in hopes to be selected by Bob Bradley was true.

Bye the Bye… Chivas USA threw a party for the Season Ticket holders last night. It was fantastic - booze, food, and just about every player showed up to sign autographs. I still can’t believe I got Claudio Suarez, Ante Razov, Marsch, Mendoza, Galindo, Cunliffe, Merlin, Johnny Bornstein, Thomas, Guzan, Burpo, El Sueno (Flores), Nagamura, Nunez, & Vaughn’s autographs. Most of them also stopped and chatted for at least a moment. I was even introduced and talked to CEO Hunter. He seems like a very dynamic person.

It was a really good time! It is a well established fact that David Beckham is the type to spend a lot of time signing autographs, but when are you going to get a chance of having an opportunity of being with the entire team! Especially when your season tickets are in the cheapest seats in the house!!! Tell me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think that kind of stuff happens in the NBA, NHL, Baseball, NFL unless you spend some serious, mortgage your house or sell a kidney to pay for ‘em, season tickets.

Patty Rodriguez wants her boyfriend, Michael Munoz, to rejoin Chivas USA. Munoz was with Chivas the first two seasons before suffering an injury. This year he went to San Francisco to play with the California Victory.

Thats cool. Thanks for the post. If Munoz can live up to Preki’s standards, it would be OK with me.
