Oh Barrera Where Have You Gone?
By: David | May 27th, 2007Last night, while eating with the legion before the game, a discussion came up as to where Jorge Barrera is. Yes, that Barrera, the supposed stellar defender from Mexico that was added to the roster during the off-season. And the same defender that has yet to make an appearance during this season. There has been no news, nor indication that Berrara will even play this season and yet he is still listed on the roster.
In fact, last night during the retirement ceremony for Ramon Ramirez, Mr. Barrera was listed as one of the attendees. So we can be certain that he is still part of the team, but he has yet to step foot onto the pitch for Chivas.
That might change, when Jonathan Bornstein is called up to the national team for the Gold Cup. Without Bornstein in the backfield it will be imperative that Chivas adds some defensive depth, so as to ensure a collapse does not occur. As we all know, the defense is one of our biggest weakness and without Bornstein that could potentially be exacerbated.
