parting ways

By: Alex | February 13th, 2008

A few excellent fans were out at training this week and provided an update.

Cardozo and Mr. Bomber have finished their trial at Chivas USA. Unfortunately neither will wear a Red and White jersey this season. Cardozo looked tired and like … a 37-year old.

There are a few stand outs in camp. In particular, Marko Muslin (not Merlin). This Frenchman played his football in Serbia. Muslin is a midfielder that can also play defense. Curtain is looking good in the back with Suarez as well. Flores played left back for the scrimmage and was decent.

Players that were unavailable for the friendly against the New York Red Bulls. Sam Reynolds; Jonathan Bornstein, Shavar Thomas, Bobby Burling, Lawson Vaughn; Francisco Mendoza, Paulo Nagamura, Raphael Wicky, Anthony Hamilton; Alecko Eskandarian, Maykel Galindo. Six of last years starters were unavailable and the squad still eeked out a result against Angel and company.

I LOVE the coverage over at the Sideline Views. That is really the precedence for other journalists (who report on MLS) to follow.

Can anyone tell me if tickets are available for the Japanese U-23 game against Chivas USA?

Or for any of the pre-season games, for that matter?

Technically these are closed door games. However, several Chivas fans were at the last practice and a few are going to the next. I plan on dropping by on Monday for the friendly against DC United.

That kid Muslin have played for Red Star Belgrade. To be honest, I think I have never seen him in starting lineup, but he was registered. his father is excellent coach and was the coach of Red Star at that moment (Slavoljub Muslin). Now he is coaching some club in Russia I think, but he is wellknown as the first coach that gave the chance to Ziendine Zidan while he was coach at Bordeaux. I think they won or at least played in the finl of UEFA Cup which was great succes for french club.

I’m telling you, Suzuki is the pathway to the U23 Japanese players. Antonio Cue must have been reading his Machiavelli lately!!!!!

    Go Chivas
