Question of the week?

By: Alex | September 29th, 2008

Long time reader and now Guest Blogger, PocketKings, has proposed the question of the week.

Based on the upcoming schedule for the Western Conference teams, which team (because of their schedule) doesn’t make the playoffs?

OR

What do you think the final standings (including points) will be in 4 weeks based on schedule?

Houston will have to drop a few points with a schedule like that.

Galaxy is low man on the pole and faces the crew and houston away.

San Jose has a tough run away from home.

Assuming 4 make it from the west, I’m guessing…
    Chivas USA
    Houston Dynamo
    Real Salt Lake
    Colorado

    Thank you Alex…

I think the table might end like this…
    todays Team Games Season’s end
    40 Houston (LDWWD)8 points - 48 points
    36 CHIVAS (DWWD) 8 points - 44 points
    34 Colorado (WWLD) 7 points - 41 points
    34 SL (LLDD) 2 points - 36 points
    33 Dallas (WWDD) 8 points - 41 points
    29 LA (LLLD) 1 point - 30 points
    29 SJ (LLLWW) 6 points - 34 points

This gets wrecked if all of a sudden LA goes on a CRAZY streak, and I acknowledge this is a possibility, or DC plays the rest of their MLS games like they did in CCC.

Even if LA goes WWWW, they are only at 41 points, so CHIVAS USA should be safe with WW or WDDD.

So far 0-1 in my predictions… I picked Dallas to win, not “salvage a draw”…

But the draw might cause SJ to be more focused next week against Chivas USA?!? Next week’s CUSA v SJ game is one that we need to pull through.

Wow, I was wrong, but at least in a good way.
I made a few adjustments (Houston beating DC & SL draw)

    todays Team Games Season’s end
    43 Houston (WWDD)8 pts - 51 pts
    39 CHIVAS (WWD) 7 pts - 46 pts
    35 SL (DDD) 3 pts - 38 pts
    34 Colorado (WLD) 4 pts - 38 pts
    34 Dallas (WDD) 5 pts - 39 pts
    30 SJ (LDWW) 7 pts - 37 pts
    29 LA (LLD) 1 pt - 30 pts

    todays Team Games Season’s end
    44 Houston (WDD) 5 pts - 49 pts
    42 CHIVAS (WD) 4 pts - 46 pts
    36 SL (DD) 2 pts - 38 pts
    35 Dallas (DD) 2 pts - 37 pts
    34 Colorado (LD) 1 pts - 35 pts
    32 LA (LD) 1 pt - 33 pts
    30 SJ (DWW) 7 pts - 37 pts

Nice job DC, I thought your current form would have lost to Houston, but you made me happy!
Guessed right: Chivas v SJ, RSL
Guessed wrong: Dallas, LA v Colorado, Houston

I might be changing my Chivas v Houston pick to a win for Chivas depending on Houston’s form this week.
    Was I wrong about Colorado?

Frickin’ SJ. Can’t you hold on to a draw?!?

    47 Houston (DD) 2 pts - 50 pts
    42 CHIVAS (WD) 4 pts - 46 pts
    36 SL (DD) 2 pts - 38 pts
    35 Dallas (DD) 2 pts - 37 pts
    34 Colorado (LD) 1 pts - 35 pts
    32 LA (LD) 1 pt - 33 pts
    30 SJ (WW) 6 pts - 36 pts

Now I am in the worst spot. I have to cheer for the (glup) Galaxy to win v. Houston. I think I am going to throw up! (Do I dare suggest that Galaxy would “throw” the game on purpose?!? Galaxy fans, what say you?)

If the Gals win, I would have to publicly apologize for insinuating that the Gals would do such a thing.

Either way, I think I’m going to be sick!

I am a Dynamo fan in Houston, but I was so dismayed with the red card against Chivas’ keeper during the game against the Dynamo. For a game that really didn’t mean anything to the playoffs except keeping players sharp, the ref made a terrible call in denying Chivas their keeper for the first round of the playoffs. Well done for Chivas staying focused to pull off the tie at the end. Kudos to your team.
