Real Salt Lake
By: Alex | September 17th, 2008Wow, here we are. Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA, 6 pointer on our hands.
First question is “Who is available?” Looking on the injury list, It looks surprisingly light. Four people out and three more maybes. What? Does that mean we can put a decent team on the field? One that could compete with the best of MLS?
UMMMMMMM YEAH,
Is there attacking options? sure
A healthy midfield? More or less?
How about a defense? Sure thing.
Did Brad come back? No.
But it’s a start. The line up prediction goes something like this.
——-Ante——-Alecko———-
Mendoza-Nagamura-Kljestan-Harris
Bornstein-Thomas-Curtin-Talley
————Kennedy—————
On the bench: Braun, Marsch, Parker, Burling, Victorine, Zotinca
Probably the best line up Chivas USA has put on the field this year. I look forward to seeing how the offense looks. With Alecko adding to the great compatibility of Ante and Sacha, we should see some magic. Atiba also adds a little bit of energy and runs.
Midfield responsibilities will fall onto Nagamura again, as he will be controlling the pace and stopping attacks.
Defense is as solid as it can be. Both Talley and Bornstein are the preferred choice on the sides and will contribute to attack. I expect Kennedy to do well. He shows that he can make the stops, and the communication with the back line will come.
I think we are better equipped to handle this game and the next few.

Wait a minute, is that Zotinca on the bench? I even have to remind myself sometimes.

Wow - real last ditch effort by Chivas. Missed ya Alex. Season hasn’t been the same for sure.

This is definitely going to be a “season deciding” game. I wish we made the deal for Sasha Victorine and the Brazilian CAM a few games back, giving them a chance to settle into the rhythm of the team.
These guys need to start playing FIFA 08 as a group to “cram” as much playing time experience as possible.

I agree that this game is horribly important to the team. If the team gets healthy and stays healthy, I honestly think we have a shot.
