Rumor: Bornstein Might Want out of Chivas!!!
By: David | May 29th, 2007This is just a small rumor, but I heard this from a reliable source of mine. It would seem that Jonathan Bornstein is becoming fed up with the MLS and has a great desire to leave for Europe. As the play in MLS continues to decline and the salaries continue to stay stagnant, it would seem there is a desire in Bornstein to look for greater possibilities in Europe.
As we all saw a month or so ago, there is a great disparity in the MLS salaries, with the bulk of the money going to a select few players. Bornstein is only making $57,500 even though he won the Rookie of the Year award. It is hard for the MLS to retain their talent, especially when they are not paying them a logical salary.
But like I said, this is just a rumor. I have, however, heard this from a reliable source that he wants to leave the MLS for Europe. The only obstacle is Don Garber, who has not been favorable to players wanting a transfer. So we shall see what is going to happen in the coming weeks.
