Spice vs. Spice (Our time to take the spotlight)
By: David | April 3rd, 2007Even though the SuperClassico will not be happening for another few weeks I think its necessary that we start up this competition with a little a spice.
The gals might have the stick (also known as Posh or Victoria) but I think it necessary that Chivas USA adopt Melanie B as their official Spice Girls rep.
Take a good look at the next great thing for Chivas USA and our response to that team across the hall.

I know a little far fetched right? But just think, Scary Spice is the underdog and what happens she steals Posh’s thunder today with the announcement of a baby. Just like what Chivas will be doing this year. We are a sleeping giant waiting to strike.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way and set things straight, time to look over some of the news.
The Chivas FO has announced a new grassroots plan to gain influence and spread their image throughout Southern California. This program will be in conjunction with Best of the West and will be starting April 22nd.
It would seem that the youth will be the strength of the season, as Chivas USA has noted in two different articles. Francisco Mendoza is the strong point of the youth on the team:
Mendoza, 21, enters the season as a fixture in Chivas USA’s lineup. In the 2005 campaign, an injury to Francisco Gomez forced Mendoza into action barely a half hour into the club’s first-ever match. Mendoza went on to play a total of 24 games and started 20 of them. Last year, he blossomed into a first-choice left midfielder and started all 31 games he played in while scoring three goals.
For Chivas to succeed this year they are going to have to rely on their entire team. All of the players will need to respond and work together so as to continue last years success.

Don’t forget to also check out Part I and II of my response to the “Game First” initiatives which were announced at the beginning of the week.
That is all now, my eyeballs hurt from staring at the monitor.
