Stone Wall Burpo on the Bench

By: Alex | January 11th, 2008

As many Chivas USA fans witnessed in horror, Preston Burpo was traded to the Quakes earlier in the trade window. Chivas USA accommodated the trade at the request of Burpo, as he was looking for a starting role with a club and this looked like the perfect opportunity.

But apparently it wasn’t. The quakes snatched Joe Cannon up as their starting goalie. I guess that leaves Burpo as the bride’s maid once again.

Burpo is a brilliant goalie that deserves a spot in anyone’s starting line up.

Will Chivas USA try to get him back? Maybe, but the team is already on the hunt for a goalie from Mexico. I’m not going to start any rumors, but I know what you all are thinking… (cough … Oswaldo… cough)

    Note to self:

Be careful what you wish for, ’cause you might get it.
I’d want out too, if I were Burpo. However, a little patience would have benefitted him. Now he’s starting on the bench with a team that wanted another keeper more than him. Hmmmm.

Amazing isnt it? Maybe conways recent Red Bulls signing will mean a Burpo for Conway trade . . . or not.

Alex just how rumors are going around, have you heard anything about Dan Kennedy being invited to to goats camp.
2004 USL Rookie of the year and they ranked him among the best three goalkeepers in the league.

Sounds like the kid has potential. I haven’t heard anything is in the works.
