The class of the west battle it out
By: Alex | October 19th, 2007While everyone is watching one of the worst teams in MLS battle for the last playoff spot, one of the best matchups is taking place this weekend. Houston Dynamo visit the HDC to take on Chivas USA. This is a game that has playoff effects on both teams. Winner takes home the Western Conference, and home field advantage.
This is important to both teams, as Chivas still has the best at home record in the league. The team has lost one home game this season. On the flip side, the Dynamo beat the Chivas USA 4-0 in Houston in June. This also affects who the teams play against in the first leg of the playoffs.
The Chivas USA have a few advantages going into the last game of the season. The team has home field advantage. The Dynamo is missing Ricardo Clarke. Lastly, the Rojo Blancos are up on points. The Dynamo needs to win while Chivas can afford a draw or better. However, the team is without Ante Razov.
So for anyone that wants to see a hard fought game, I recommend watching the two best clubs in the west battle for the top.
While most Chivas fans will be at the HDC for this game, this guy will be in Vegas. I know, you guys can give me crap at the playoffs. If anyone remembers, can you pick me up one of those free Chivas USA soccer balls.
