The Cold North Has been Very Good For Chivas, as they Retool and Stomp the Sounders 3-1

By: David | June 3rd, 2007

tomlinson-george-holland.jpg As the rest of the country participated in league games and the USMNT finally found a way to beat China, Chivas found themselves in a friendly against the Seattle Sounders. This was seemingly just another inconsequential friendly match, yet the media coverage and the response gives way to the real intentions of Chivas v. Sounders. From what I have read, yesterday’s match was being used as a way in which to test the soccer market in Seattle. The game did not disappoint, as over 5,000 came to see Chivas beat the Seattle Sounders and get a glimpse of growing soccer phenom Maykel Galindo (a former Sounder).

Preki had his team prepared yesterday, as he moved around the starting line-up so as to accommodate for the loss of Kljestan, Bornstein, Guzan, Marsch and Razov. Chivas was down in the first 12 minutes of the match and at first it looked that they were going to loose to the Sounders. That was until Claudio Suarez crushed a penalty kick in the 12th minute to start off Chivas’ rout of Seattle. The two other goals were scored by Galindo and John Cunliffe respectively, proving once again that Cunliffe needs to have a greater role in the Chivas line-up.

So there you have it, Chivas was able to find a team they could beat, now if only they could produce that kind of result against a true competitor, Preki might still deserve to keep his job.
