The End of an Era: Ramon Ramirez Retires
By: David | May 27th, 2007Yesterday marked the end of the long career that was Ramon Ramirez. For such a storied player, it was a pretty boring ending. Having not played in over a season, this retirement did not have that much of an impact upon Chivas, except for opening up a spot on the roster.
According to Ramirez, “After a difficult year, including a knee injury and several attempts to — during the preseason — to return to form for one last time, after much soul searching I’ve made the decision to retire officially,” Ramirez declared. “This is the announcement I wanted to release today.” (mlsnet.com)
But as with anything, we must remember the great career that Mr. Ramirez had and the fact that he ended his soccer playing at Chivas USA. So what is next for Mr. Ramirez? It would seem that Soccer United Marketing has made a deal for Ramon to become an ambassador for the MLS. So Mr. Ramirez’s legacy continues as he helps to increase the exposure of soccer in America.
